Learn More About Craig AlanCraig Alan has created a vast collection of pop artworks that reflect iconic celebrities, and pop cultural events. He began his career at the University of Mobile, Alabama where he focused on a degree in Fine Art. Furthermore, he received a minor in theater which added to his appreciation and understanding of the human figure. Hence, Alan combined his skills by developing textures, bold colors, and large-scale portraits with technical sophistication to develop imaginative paintings.
Born in California, Alan tells the story of how he would sit on his balcony and see people creating lips on the beach. As a result, he took this inspiration and began painting large-scale compositions with tiny figures. These figures are miniature stencils that Alan made to reflect people doing individualized poses like walking, cheering, or jumping. With these tiny figures, Alan creates large-scale portraits by layering these multiple silhouettes. Ultimately, this style developed into his Populus series, and has made him internationally famous with his Pop Culture influenced compositions.
Craig Alan worked for many years perfecting his design of miniature figures in various poses. As a result, Alan developed portraits of famous icons like Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, and Audrey Hepburn out of these tiny figures. These large-scale, pop art, Abstractions are fantastic additions in anyone’s space.
